Lead Electrical Technician - Price Engineering

Department: Operations
Location: Hartland, WI

The Lead Electrical Technician (LET) responsibilities include: supervision of the electrical technicians,
distribution of workload based on technician skills, and technician evaluations. Additional responsibilities
include panel shop processes and procedures (i.e. development/enhancements to improve efficiencies in
processes affecting assembly/wiring of control panels, harnesses and cables associated with
electrohydraulic, pneumatic and automation systems). Projects can include: field wiring of panels to
Hydraulic Power Units (HPU), assembly stations, test stands, hydraulic manifolds, pneumatic manifolds
and pneumatic panels. The LET will lead by example and is required to layout, fabricate, assemble, wire
and test projects using his/her own tools. Specialty tools are available for use. The LET must have good
fabrication and layout skills i.e. system components are placed logically where they would be accessible for
maintenance purposes. The LET will need to understand: electrical and hydraulic schematics, size/bend
conduit, and follow good manufacturing practices. An understanding of the UL508A Standard is highly
desired. The employee will work in a low volume, highly customized, fast paced, turn-key environment.
Position requires a positive attitude, team player and customer focused qualities.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Standards:

  • Supervision of the electrical technicians
  • Distribution of workload based on technician skills
  • Technician evaluationsConstruction of control panels based on UL508ARead schematics/diagrams/blueprints
    • Creating and maintaining panel shop processes and procedures (i.e. development/enhancements to
      improve efficiencies in processes affecting assembly/wiring of control panels, harnesses and
      cables associated with electrohydraulic, pneumatic and automation systems
  • Conduit sizing and bending
  • Use hand/power tools and machining equipment (i.e. drill press, mill, lathe, etc.)
  • Operate electrical test equipment
  • Troubleshoot circuits
  • Basic computer skills
  • QA inspection, verification of completed work
  • Other responsibilities and/or projects as assigned by management
  • Maintain an organized, efficient and safe work area, i.e. 5S and appropriate PPE

Work Environment: Climate controlled shop environment

Requirements:

Education: H.S./GED or equivalent required, AAS in Electrical engineering field a plus, willingness to continue educational learning training

Experience: 10+ years experience in electrical repair field

Skills: Previous supervisory experience.  Logical problem-solving and analytical ability, motivated self-starter and ability to prioritize and schedule work assignments to meet customer needs.  Forklift experience preferred and strong mechanical aptitude a must.
