Quality Manager - Industrial Distribution and Manufacturing

This key role will be responsible for our ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D, and AS9120B certified Quality Management System compliance. This includes management of all company-wide quality policies, procedures, processes, programs, and practices, to assure conformance with appropriate standards and regulations. Manages document control, quality audits, and continuous improvement processes.  Perform various duties required to support, 6S, Kaizen, and Lean methods. Responsible for a variety of duties involved with internal and external auditing, management of corrective actions, and following standard established methods, procedures, practices and policies, with passion and in alignment with our mission, vision, values & operating principles. Oversee and manage the Supplier Management program. Manage the employee Training program.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in applied science, Business Management, or engineering field
  • 5+ years experience in Quality Assurance for consumer or industrial product manufacturer and contract manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years experience in Quality System maintenance
  • Demonstrated experience working with contract manufacturers, suppliers, or distributors.
  • Proven experience working with a government contractor or subcontractor.
  • Hands-on experience with implementation and training with quality tools (VSM,  Six-Sigma, Lean).
  • Demonstrated exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in quality management systems.
  • Experience in quality system audits.
  • Desire to own decisions and take responsibility for outcomes.
  • Willingness to travel when required (10%).
  • Willingness to continually embrace personal and professional development.
  • Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite – fully proficient with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.  MS Access experience a plus
  • Proficient with the requirements of ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9120, ANSI, ITAR, FAR, and DFAR.
  • ASQ CMQ/OE, CQE certifications preferred but not required.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and implement quality control standards and procedures and initiate/promote continuous improvement.
  • Perform root cause analysis and lead corrective/preventive action initiatives.
  • Ensure proper use of tool and gauging and that calibration requirements are met.
  • Finalize product inspection procedures and perform inspections when necessary.
  • Ensure material requisitions and certifications meet requirements of material specifications.
  • Create and publish communications on quality topics to inspire, influence, and encourage team members to engage in process refinement and the continual improvement of performance results.
  • Develop and conduct training to build quality awareness.
  • Interface with Engineering, Sales, Operations, and Suppliers to ensure transfer to Production of new products in accordance with requirements.
  • Develops quality plans for hydraulic, electrical systems and hose assembly production.
  • Complete and manage the closing of external audit findings and opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyze field failures, and initiate corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints.
  • Responsible for planning, organizing and managing the overall activities of quality control functions.
  • Ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective actions and preventive actions.
  • Manage supplier performance and conduct supplier audits.
  • Preparation of QA reports.
  • Train employees in the proper use of Quality and Analytical tools.
  • Promote quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization
  • Ensure tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated and that product modifications are investigated if necessary.
  • Bring together staff of different disciplines, driving the group to plan, formulate and agree to comprehensive quality procedures.
  • Formulate and manage the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and systems pertaining to the QA.
  • Liaising with customers’ auditors and ensuring the execution of corrective action and compliance with customers’ specification.
